Isshinryu Karate is an Okinawan martial art that cultivates the development of body, mind, and spirit. This way of self defesne translates into English as the "whole heart method." Founded by Tatsuo Shimabuku, Isshinryu teaches its practitioners to clear the mind of useless or negative thoughts, allowing a student to concentrate on a specific goal. Master Shimabuku believed the study of this method should be used not only as a means of self protection, but also to develop one's character and spirit. Lessons are done in a traditional format beginning with flexibility and stretching exercises, then the practicing of Kata with advanced defensive movements. Regular practice of Isshinryu will develop timing, reflexes, conditioning, confidence and most importantly a positive attitude. If you are interested in a fun, motivational, and rewarding program, please contact our officers, using the email bove, or stop by.

The Isshinryu Karate Klub meets Monday, Wednesday, and Friday in the Armory Basement from 6 - 8 PM. Come by for a free class!
